Serious Review:
What a finale to one of the most influential WADs of all time. I like this one for the most part. The two “Jon Hamm” fights are my favorites, probably because they’re the ones that most resemble setpieces. The “Ass Blasts From the Past” are pretty fun setpieces too.
The only thing I’m not too keen on are the sniper enemies, specifically the Afrits, lil’ Fuckers, the Cyberdmeon and the Archviles on the farthest hill. I’m also not a fan of the Afrit finale as they tend to bounce all over the place from your tracers and it can be annoying/unsatisfying to clean them up.

Scythe 2 Final Thoughts:
Probably the one WAD that is single-handedly responsible for turning me into the doom player I am today (aside from Sunder, that is). When I first sat down to do this saveless a couple years ago, I began the transition from a casual doom player to a more serious one. For that, this WAD holds a special place in my heart. I don’t think it’s aged incredibly well, but it’s still nostalgic.
This WAD was also the first I had ever played. The year was 2012. I was looking up on the internet how to make doom maps because me and my brother were obsessed with Doom, and general level design as well. I stumbled onto a bunch of Youtube videos of people playing their custom maps and it looked awesome. I saw a video entitled “Top 10 Hardest Doom WADs” and clicked on it, intrigued (I can’t find the video anymore, it’s probably gone forever).
One of the top entries was Scythe 2 (of course, serious doom players know Scythe 2 isn’t even close to the top ten) and I was amazed. I played it on ITYTD and absolutely fell in love with it. From there I kept branching out, searching online for more and more WADs to play. This is how I discovered the Doom community.
So anyways, Scythe 2 was my introduction to the community and the tipping point in the rise of my Doom skill. Until next time, Scythe 2.
Also for those who don’t know I am going to begin practicing for a D2All UV Max of Scythe 2. Wish me luck.
