Do you usually scrunch your hair all at once, or while it’s still sectioned?
Sectioning doesn’t just help with product application.
It makes scrunching more effective, especially for looser curl patterns and waves.
Looser curls need more scrunching to activate their shape and form clumps.
And when your hair is sectioned, you can:
get closer to the root
support the pattern before moving on
avoid flat or straight sections
create more consistent curl formation
Scrunching after everything is already dropped together isn’t the same.
Sectioned scrunching gives your curls structure while they’re still forming.
Tighter curls often hold their shape on their own.
Waves and looser curls usually need more hands-on support.
This isn’t about scrunching harder.
It’s about scrunching smarter.
