The Barataria Preserve is one of 6 distinct units of the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park (@jeanlafittenps). It protects 26,000 acres of a classic Louisiana Bayou, and has ample recreational opportunities for tourists and locals alike. The Visitor Center also has some REALLY important exhibits about the threats facing the larger Mississippi River Delta. Don't skip out on this park if you're in the New Orleans area, as it's only about 30 mins from downtown.
