Beginner campers and backpackers can sometime get led astray by outdoor companies. Do not get out into the wilderness on your adventure and realize your tent is too small! While tents have 2P, 3P, 4P, 6P, etc., they sometimes do not make sense. If you are a stick figure and want to lay toes to nose, they will work for you. But some tents may not have a vestibule, so where is your gear going? Think your backpacking or camping adventure before going out. Go to REI or the like and throw a bunch of sleeping bags and pads into the tent you are looking to buy. See how the tent works, is it too small or too large? How will you use the tent, etc. Think it through!
