I wanted to do Returns and Tropical Freeze for a long time and finally got around to do them. The music always sounded quite compressed and dirty to me, especially Returns. Tropical Freeze sounded better but I couldnt say why. Maybe because of David Wise or they were better encoded but who knows. I really love the music of these games and always wanted to do some quality upscale remasters of the entire soundtrack. But only now I could do it with a quality that I find acceptable and oh boy, so much joy to listen to them now. The remasters came out better than I expected and I also did lots of further mastering improvements for a clean and audiophile friendly sound. Everything is based on original platform rips so the Wii and Wii U. It should be noted though that this time around I decided not to loop them. They are often already long enough even with just one loop and somehow I just felt like they dont need to loop. So in most cases they fade out after one loop but some shorter tracks were actually looped.
UPDATE:
I added the missing Switch credit part as Staff Roll 3.

Crysis has gotten a Original Soundtrack arrangement upgrade! Quite an expansive upgrade actually. I took the OST and remastered and upscaled it extensively. The official soundtrack was mostly based on lossy OGG files outside of a few action tracks. It was also heavily clipped and clicked but I did like the arrangements by Paul Taylor and therefore actually set out to make a few bonus tracks that I tried to arrange in the same way so that they fit seamlessly in. I basically only added compositions that were completely missing from the OST. The Nanosuit Combat Theme for example but also several other level and cutscene music. I made the OST only longer by like 15 mins since I didnt want to overdo it so I only included the most neccessary compositions as bonus tracks. They are also arranged with special sampling and fan service. But check it out yourself, its basically an alternative to my very extensive and long complete soundtrack. ![Prototype Suite [2025 REMASTER]
Composer: Cris Velasco, Sascha Dikiciyan
A rework of the rework. I basically took my rework from around 2022 and enhanced it further with my latest research and software. Aim of this was to further enhance the audio quality by hiding away compression and making the music sound more brilliant and hi-fi oriented since I always felt like there is room for improvement with the Prototype audio quality. Clipping has also been greatly reduced as well as additional declick improvements. I utilized both Cleaning Lab as well as Unchirp and Ozone processing to do that. Due to the time involved, I only did this for my Original Soundtrack arrangement since it would have been way too much work to do it for everything. Therefore Part II and Part III of this release are unchanged. I am also not sure how audible the improvements are with added YouTube compression so I recommend my FLACs if you wanna compare directly. But this gave me a good reason to upload this Original Soundtrack arrangement separately from my big bloated 6 hour release. The Suite is also its own video now. These are all new releases. This time around I tackled PC games with Midi GM soundtracks from the mid 90s. I did these over a couple of months though I already looked before that into the topic since I first needed to figure out a process that makes it possible to render HQ audio because that Roland SCVA 1.16 VST was really picky about the DAW and most didnt work but FL Studio worked fine in combination with loopMIDI.
I usually tracked down the original MIDIs and avoided mus conversions as much as possible for instrument and BPM accuracy. This is why you might notice a few little differences in comparison to other renders since the Doom renders are based on the leaked Doom source code which still had the original Bobby Prince midi compositions rather than mus. They still had their Roland GS extensions intact for example.
After getting all the MIDI files I mostly rendered all channels one by one so that I can do more precise cleaning and mixing. The Bobby Prince and Lee Jackson compositions were most of the time left as is since they were composed on Roland and sounded right to me. Heretic and Hexen were highly reworked though and the mixing might be quite different from what you are used to since I really wasnt happy with the instrument balance and I tried to make clean balanced mixes with every detail audible and a clean soundstage. The James Paddock compositions were only slightly reworked since they were usually fine with the soundfont.
What was made completely different is Descent though. This is because there wasnt really a way to render the midis directly due to them being hmi files and some of the MIDI information and samples coming straight from the games code. Therefore I setup Dosbox and recorded the MIDI output and then did the mastering. In this case I also included the Redbook audio as bonus which I declicked and remastered too.
All renders and masters were saved as 96khz 24bit though it should be said that the majority of the SCVA samples seem to be 16khz. Rise Of The Triad: Dark War (Re-Engineered Soundtrack) [SCVA SC-55]](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/pFZQQOOKOR4/mqdefault.jpg)
