My 101% speedrun tutorial of 'Clam City' in "Donkey Kong Country" for the Game Boy Advance.

NOTE: This tutorial is not meant to be friendly. There might be a bit of safeness. But to get the fastest possible time, these tricks must be performed.
Swimming physics:
The swimming physics are different from the SFC version. In the GBA version, just holding Left or Right on the D-Pad isn't enough to go fast. The run/roll/cartwheel button has to be used too. And even then, swimming horizontally is slower in this version. Also, swimming up is way different from the SFC version. In the GBA version, Donkey and Diddy can swim up way faster, even when holding Down on the D-Pad.
Enguarde the Swordfish:
Enguarde is useful for most of the level. The physics are different from the SFC version, but he is still useful.
Letter G approaching:
The last section can be hard. Upon getting the letter G, chances of getting knocked off of Enguarde is very high.
Be sure to go to Cranky and Candy after this level.
----------
In order to get 101% in the Game Boy Advance version, every Bonus Room has to be found. Not only that, but every picture (as well as the K-O-N-G letters) has to be collected.

![Sonic 3 & Knuckles - Carnival Night Boss [No Insta-shield]
A walkthrough of how to defeat this boss without using the Insta-shield in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles for the Genesis.
As you know, Carnival Night, Act 2 is very long. If you spend too much time in this level, you may end up not having enough time to defeat the boss. Two reasons why. #1, there are very little opportunities to hit the boss. #2, the boss is so high up that Sonic cant hit him without his Insta-shield technique. This can be a problem for Sonic if he is wearing a bubble shield or a fire shield (or a lightning shield if one does not want to use it). It can also be a problem if Sonic cant use the Insta-shield to avoid transforming (change into Super Sonic by pressing jump in midair with 50 rings or more). If one wants a challenge without getting hit and without using the Insta-shield within the time limit, one will have to be very wary of that. Here is how to do it.
After the boss drops the big green bolt, time his movement rhythm by hitting him between the green bolts. Then, after the boss does that lightning attack, hit him from above as he grabs the big green bolt. Repeat the process until he is defeated.
Doing this tactic without getting hit is difficult because the timing on hitting the boss between the green bolts is pretty strict. However, if youre low on time, this is the only way to do it without using the Insta-shield within the time limit.
It can be done in about 1 minute, 29 seconds. However, I suggest being at the boss area when the timer reaches 8 minutes. The reason why is because the possibililty of missing him on timing the hit between the green bolts is quite high, as I demonstrated in this video.
- If youre playing as Sonic and Tails and you miss a hit during that cycle, its not too big of a deal if youre low on time. Tails can sometimes be helpful during the battle.
- If youre playing as Sonic Alone and you miss a hit during that cycle, you might be in trouble because you have to wait for the boss to do that lightning attack, grab the big green bolt, and drop it again for another chance to time the hit between the green bolts. It takes around 20 seconds, and that can be very bad if youre low on time.
Tails has it much easier than Sonic. He can use his twin tails to hit the boss from below, thus speeding up the battle. Sonic 3 & Knuckles - Carnival Night Boss [No Insta-shield]](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/UdCiQvshTdo/mqdefault.jpg)

![Diddy Kong Racing {ADV Two} - Silver Coins [Minimal Boosts]
A guide/walkthrough of all the silver coin challenges on Adventure Two mode using as little boosts as possible in Diddy Kong Racing for the Nintendo 64.
The challenge was to use as little boosts as possible. The only time they are used is when the silver coin is either too far out of the way or is placed by the Zipper. In this case, the Zipper in Jungle Falls is required to get both silver coins over the water. As for certain other silver coins placed by the Zippers, the green boost trick is used as a freebie.
NOTE: On Adventure Two mode, it is only possible to fully do the normal races and silver coin challenges consistently as either Krunch, Drumstick, or T.T. using as little boosts as possible. The AIs are almost as fast as they are on the trophy races (Ultimate AI), making it impossible for every other character to fully do them consistently using as little boosts as possible. On Adventure mode, it is possible to fully do the normal races and silver coin challenges consistently as every character. The AIs are as slow as Pipsy.
Races:
- Ancient Lake | Silver Coin Challenge ~ 0:00
- Fossil Canyon | Silver Coin Challenge ~ 1:21
- Jungle Falls | Silver Coin Challenge ~ 3:19
- Hot Top Volcano | Silver Coin Challenge ~ 4:44
- Everfrost Peak | Silver Coin Challenge ~ 6:33
- Walrus Cove | Silver Coin Challenge ~ 8:32
- Snowball Valley | Silver Coin Challenge ~ 10:51
- Frosty Village | Silver Coin Challenge ~ 12:15
- Whale Bay | Silver Coin Challenge ~ 14:21
- Pirate Lagoon | Silver Coin Challenge ~ 15:47
- Crescent Island | Silver Coin Challenge ~ 17:19
- Treasure Caves | Silver Coin Challenge ~ 19:19
- Boulder Canyon | Silver Coin Challenge ~ 20:47
- Greenwood Village | Silver Coin Challenge ~ 22:42
- Windmill Plains | Silver Coin Challenge ~ 24:44
- Haunted Woods | Silver Coin Challenge ~ 27:13
- Spacedust Alley | Silver Coin Challenge ~ 28:39
- Darkmoon Caverns | Silver Coin Challenge ~ 31:04
- Spaceport Alpha | Silver Coin Challenge ~ 33:28
- Star City | Silver Coin Challenge ~ 35:43
With Ultimate AI code (trophy race mode) turned on, it is only possible to fully do every race consistently as Drumstick using as little boosts as possible. T.T.s top speed with the plane is like Krunchs, which is not enough to gain distance from the AIs before they hit the Zipper in Hot Top Volcano and Windmill Plains on the 1st lap. This applies to Adventure mode and Adventure Two mode.
How the game works:
AIs cheat by using a power up whenever you do and whenever the AI in front does, as well as honking the horn. 60% of the time, there is always a chance you will be hit by a homing missile. If you get enough distance in 1st place, the AIs will stop hitting Zippers behind you, as well as driving into traps and not be effected off-screen, including them getting stopped by the bridge off-screen in Boulder Canyon.
I challenge you to do the normal races and silver coin challenges using as little boosts as possible.

![Diddy Kong Racing - Pipsy Playthrough/Longplay
Playing as Pipsy in Diddy Kong Racing (v1.0) for the Nintendo 64.
PLAYING NOTE: I deliberately avoid using boosts as much as possible for the normal races and silver coin challenges. The only time I use them is when Im getting the key to unlock a battle stage, and when Im doing the trophy race. 10 bananas are more than enough to win normal races and silver coin challenges. Yes, bananas do increase the top speed of the character youre playing as.
Recorded in the year 2011; originally divided into 22 parts, edited into one video.
Pipsys stats:
- Weight Group: Light
- Acceleration: 5.0 ~ Very High
- Handling: 5.0 ~ Very High
- Top Speed: 1.0 ~ Very Low
NOTE: With 4 to 10 bananas, Pipsys top speed is the same as Diddys when he has 4 to 10 bananas. With the hovercraft/plane, Pipsys top speed is the same as Diddys.
Pipsy is a small, yellow mouse.
Rules of play:
- No damage (recommended characters only; Diddy Kong, Tiptup, and Pipsy are good choices at the very start of the game).
- Mostly minimal boosts for normal races and silver coin challenges.
How the game works:
AIs cheat by using a power up whenever you do, as well as honking the horn. 60% of the time, there is always a chance you will be hit by a homing missile. If you get enough distance in 1st place, the AIs will stop hitting Zippers behind you, as well as driving into traps and not being effected off-screen, including them not getting stopped by the bridge off-screen in Boulder Canyon.
Car tips:
To drift, turn first, and then hold the R button. During that time, turning can be controlled. Braking while drifting is required, especially for heavy characters.
Hovercraft tips:
Only use the R button for sharp turns. DO NOT hold the R button when going straight forward. Do not hold Down on the analog stick either. Doing either of those things WILL decrease speed.
Plane tips:
To turn sharper, use the R button. To do an upwards loop-de-loop, tap the R button twice. To do a downwards loop-de-loop, hold Up, and then tap the R button twice. During that time, depending on how long the R button is held, it can last up to 1 second. After that, it finishes with a boost. To do a barrel roll, hold either Left or Right, and then tap the R button twice. While doing barrel rolls continuously, let go of the accelerator for greater boosting.
Green boost tip:
To get a green boost, let go of the accelerator before either hitting a Zipper or using a blue balloon power up. During that time, wait UNTIL the multicolored smoke disappears, and THEN accelerate again.

Out of all the normal races and silver coin challenges, the hardest one to win using as little boosts as possible is the silver coin challenge of Windmill Plains! That race is absurdly hard with that kind of rule! The reason why is because the AIs actually DO let go of the accelerator upon hitting Zippers, even upon using blue balloon power ups! There is absolutely NO room for error, because if you dont make the right moves at the beginning or during the race, you arent going to win! Getting hit by a homing missile or an oil slick is definitely NOT an option either! Because of those problems, its absurdly hard to win using as little boosts as possible!
Windmill Plains | Silver Coin Challenge as Pipsy [Minimal Boosts]:
Since Pipsys top speed is slightly below average (hovercraft/plane only), you WILL have to worry about the AIs hitting the Zipper on the 1st lap. You need luck to get the first red balloon power up. If you dont get cheated out of getting the first red balloon power up, then you may or may not have an easy time, depending on the AI in 1st place. If you do get cheated out of getting the first red balloon power up, then follow the bananas (collect them) to the right and bypass the balloon power ups. With the distance youve gained, you should expect either one or no AIs to hit the Zipper on the 1st lap. Before you enter the tunnel, go a bit off-course to avoid getting hit by a missile. If the AI hits the Zipper, then youll have to focus on slowing down that one in front of you. Level 3 red balloon power up is your only chance, so do not get any other balloon power ups until youre in 1st place. Upon exiting out of the short tunnel, go off-course to avoid getting hit by a homing missile. Once youre in 1st place, focus on getting the silver coins. You need to be in 1st place by the end of the 2nd lap.
If two AIs hit the Zipper on the 1st lap, it is IMPOSSIBLE to win.
