Echoes of Ancient Tales is the second studio album by Portuguese epic heavy metal band Dolmen Gate, released on October 3, 2025, by No Remorse Records. Formed in Lisbon in 2021, Dolmen Gate is dedicated to paying homage to "sacred metal"—an epic and nostalgic form of heavy metal—drawing directly from classic giants like Manowar, Omen, and Manilla Road, with subtle touches of the 1970s that add a layer of heaviness and vintage atmosphere to their sound.
Just one year after their acclaimed debut, Gateways of Eternity (2024), this sophomore effort raises the bar for the band, solidifying their position in the current underground metal scene with more refined, mature, and impactful compositions. Recorded between February and May 2025 at Pentagon Audio Manufacturers Studios, the album was produced by the band themselves in collaboration with engineer Fernando Matias, who also handled the mixing and mastering.
The result is a more contemporary and polished sound compared to its predecessor, with tighter guitars and drums, without losing the raw and epic essence. The tracks, longer on average, explore mythological and historical narratives—echoing "echoes of ancient legends"—with lyrics and melodies that evoke heroic journeys, prophecies, and eternal battles.
