Male fertility and age are more connected than most people realize.

Just like fertility declines for women over time, the same happens for men. Every year, sperm DNA accumulates about two more mutations, and semen quality declines with age, which means it can take longer to conceive.

We also see some increased risks of neurocognitive conditions in children of older fathers, so while those headlines about dads in their 70s and 80s grab attention, earlier is usually better from a biologic standpoint.

Send this to someone who's been asking about the right time to start a family.
