Does ceramic windshield tint actually block heat, or is it just an expensive gimmick? We put nano-ceramic film to a real-world test on our Mazda CX-5 to see if a light 70% windshield tint and sun visor strip can finally stop that scorching summer heat.
If you live in a hot climate like Arizona, you know how brutal the front cabin gets. Modern SUVs come with factory tinted rear glass, but the front windows and massive windshield are completely bare—leaving your arms and legs roasting while you drive.
To fix this, we head down to Clear Choice Designs to install a 70% nano-ceramic windshield tint, a dark sun strip visor, and 20% front side windows to match the rear privacy glass. Donnie and Gary walk us through the high-end plotting process, how they heat-shrink the film to fit the curved glass, and how they handle "fingers" during installation.
