The Long-Awaited Return: After a five-year wait due to an engine failure (where bearing material was found in the oil pan) and an initial near-sale of the car, the creator finally receives his fully built, legendary HKS Step 2 RB28 engine back from Intech Racing.
Build Details & Components:
Features a fully forged HKS 2.8L stroker kit (crankshaft, connecting rods, and pistons).
Uses an HKS Step 2 Vcam, a Step 2 272 exhaust cam, and HKS valve springs.
Upgraded with a PRP block brace, a custom sump extension providing extra oil capacity, a Nismo intake plenum, and an ATI super damper.
Challenges & Lessons Learned:
The creator discusses compatibility hurdles, such as the conflict between the HKS crank trigger kit and the Billet PRP oil pump, requiring alternative planning.
He shares valuable advice regarding previous mistakes (such as overlooked low oil pressure and aggressive low-RPM torque curves) that led to the original engine failure, emphasizing the importance of using reputable shops and thorough research.
