Tired of dealing with brake fade during track days or spirited driving? In this video, I break down the final pieces of the puzzle for the Speed Performance Lab Big Brake Kit (BBK): high-performance brake cooling and the right pad selection.
Proper cooling is critical to preventing brake fade, overheating, and expensive rotor warping. I test fit new air-guide cooling ducts inspired by the Nismo 400R design, which route air directly into your brakes to keep temperatures stable. We also dive into Padid Street Plus pads—the same brake pads used on the Lotus Evora 400—to ensure your R32, R33, or R34 GTR has the stopping power it deserves.
What’s Inside This Technical Guide:
Preventing Brake Fade: Why active air-cooling ducts are the ultimate insurance policy for your expensive brake components.
Padid Street Plus Performance: I perform a test fit and break down why these are the superior choice for a dual-purpose street/track GTR.
Fitment & Clearance: Watch as we mock up the cooling guides to ensure proper clearance with our AP Racing brackets.
Next-Gen Development: We discuss upcoming plans for custom-designed brake lines that match the quality of our Speed Performance Lab kit.
Future Market Plans: I’m looking into stocking these cooling ducts and high-performance pads for both GTR and WRX owners—let me know if you want a set in the comments!

![My HKS RB28 Is Finally BACK After 5 Years! | Skyline GT-R Engine Build
The Long-Awaited Return: After a five-year wait due to an engine failure (where bearing material was found in the oil pan) and an initial near-sale of the car, the creator finally receives his fully built, legendary HKS Step 2 RB28 engine back from Intech Racing.
Build Details & Components:
Features a fully forged HKS 2.8L stroker kit (crankshaft, connecting rods, and pistons).
Uses an HKS Step 2 Vcam, a Step 2 272 exhaust cam, and HKS valve springs.
Upgraded with a PRP block brace, a custom sump extension providing extra oil capacity, a Nismo intake plenum, and an ATI super damper.
Challenges & Lessons Learned:
The creator discusses compatibility hurdles, such as the conflict between the HKS crank trigger kit and the Billet PRP oil pump, requiring alternative planning.
He shares valuable advice regarding previous mistakes (such as overlooked low oil pressure and aggressive low-RPM torque curves) that led to the original engine failure, emphasizing the importance of using reputable shops and thorough research.
Next Steps & Channel Update:
The engine is now on a stand in his garage, where he plans to assemble accessories, swap out fuel injectors, and decide on a color scheme (leaning towards a wrinkle red valve cover).
He notes that completing the car will take another 8 to 12 months due to unexpected daily driver repairs.
The channel has officially been renamed from JDM Right-Hand Drive to Speed Performance Lab to tie in with his custom brake kit business.
