Kat was 28 when a doctor told her the lump in her thigh was a lipoma, a harmless, common fatty growth, and that there was a "1 in a million" chance they were wrong. She believed them. So when her surgeon called minutes after a routine outpatient removal to say it wasn't a lipoma at all, the ground shifted.
Weeks later, the pathology came back: Myxoid Liposarcoma, a rare soft tissue sarcoma she'd never heard of.
