When Taylor was diagnosed with stage 3B rectal cancer at 19 years old, her care team wanted to be aggressive with treatment. Taylor did a clinical trial where she had radiation, continuous chemotherapy, and eventually surgery to remove her entire large intestine and part of her small intestine.
Originally, Taylor opted out of getting a permanent ileostomy bag, but then she was diagnosed with Lynch syndrome. A genetic disorder that predisposes you to various types of cancer. For the last 13 years, Taylor has been living with her ileostomy and says "it gave me my life back."
