Many colds start as Cold-Colds (esp in Winter) and can morph into Hot-Colds, especially if you are dehydrated internally. So be sure to hydrate properly through Winter (with hot/warm beverages, not cold ideally and lots of soups).
Once you have a cold or flu you must SLEEP (permission to NAP) and HYDRATE like your life depends on it.
Do you have a cold or flu right now? Which one is it? Here are some things that I find especially helpful by cold-flu type:
Cold-Cold - hot compress on the back of your neck, Lanshin Hot Massager by Acera along back of the neck, ginger tea, hot water with pinch of salt or electrolytes (sugar-free), hot bone broth with lots of ginger and scallions, naps and sleep with lots of covers and heat pads until you break a sweat.
Hot-Cold - a ton of hydration with lemon + salt salt, electrolytes, mint tea, a Chinese herbal formula called “Yin Qiao San,” extra vitamin C (this is cooling in nature so be careful with sensitive tummies), lots of rest. Even with a “hot” cold I still recommend drinking warm or hot water because it rehydrates you faster, which will ultimately have a cooling effect.
If you’re not sure just SLEEP and HYDRATE more than usual.
