Ever recorded your voice in English and thought
“WHY do I sound like that?”
You’re not weird. You’re not bad at English.
You’re just hearing your REAL voice for the first time.
When you speak, you hear your voice in a bit of a distorted way that includes vibrations in your skull.
Everyone else hears the version on the recording.
That’s why it sounds higher, thinner, and unfamiliar.
And yes — it’s uncomfortable.
But avoiding recordings is one of the BIGGEST reasons pronunciation progress feels so slow.
You don’t need to love your voice.
You just need to get used to hearing it.
Think of recording yourself like a mirror:
It’s not judging you. It’s showing you what to adjust.
Discomfort doesn’t mean you’re doing it wrong.
It usually means you’re finally doing the RIGHT thing.

Oggi ti spiego come pronunciare NOTICED 🇺🇸🇨🇦
RISULTATO: NOTICED = [ˈnoʊɾɪst]
