Do JRPG Fans have a persecution complex when it comes to Clair Obscur: Expedition 33? Yes. Guillaume Broche posted his favorite video games on Twitter X, which - shock - included JRPGs and Anime games like Xenoblade, Persona 5, Nier Replicant and Metaphor. No E33 fan had a problem with this. The JRPG Mafia, on the other hand, had a complete meltdown and acted like this was some crushing victory against E33 fans. The truth is that they're fighting ghosts. E33 fans don't hate Anime games, or hate you for playing them. It's just that those games didn't grab them the way Final Fantasy 7, FFX or E33 did. It was also simply a better game & story than FF15, FF16 and FF7 Rebirth by Square Enix. Anime pfps tend to interpret this lack of interest as pure hatred. When in reality, it's just projection. A good protip when arguing with the loving & tolerant JRPG community is to realise that they will call you what they are, and they will accuse you of what they're doing. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has sparked debate about modern Final Fantasy. An FRPG take on the JRPG genre. From my first playthrough and reactions to this turn-based combat dark fantasy. A video game by Sandfall, a French company with exceptional talent, made up of developers who left Ubisoft. It feels like the Final Fantasy game I always wanted. Incredible writing, music and direction. Featuring a great cast of characters, with fine voice acting from Maxence Cazorla (Esquie), Charlie Cox (Gustave), Kirsty Rider (Lune), Jennifer English (Maelle), Shala Nyx (Sciel), Ben Starr (Verso) and Andy Serkis (Renoir). Featuring an awesome system of Parry & Dodge timing, and QTE. Drawing influence from unexpected places, like Legend of Dragoon, Dark Souls and Chrono Trigger.
