Did FF7 Revelation Ruin Cid Highwind's Character? Rebirth Destroyed Cid Highwind (Shot-By-Shot Comparison attached in Pinned Comment). There's how this character was in the OG Final Fantasy 7 (1997) by Squaresoft, and there's how he is in the FF7R Remake trilogy by Square Enix. They are not the same man. His volcanic temper is gone, his cigarettes are gone, Rocket Town is gone, and the Tiny Bronco sucks. You can't even play as him until Part 3. In Part 2, he's nothing more than a fast-travel NPC. Sadly FF7R rewrote key scenes (Dyne) and major characters like Cid Highwind in order to appeal to "modern audiences", who are greatly outnumbered by OG fans. It turns out this was a bad call. Now the launch hype has worn off, FF7 Rebirth can be seen for what it is: A bloated fan-fiction rewrite of the original game, that can't even be honest about what it is. The first game is still called "Remake", after all. Tune in Spring 2027 for FF7 Revelation
