DJI has just dropped another firmware update for the Action 5 Pro, version V01.03.03.50. But after the debacle with the previous update (V01.03.03.30) being pulled, the burning question is: has DJI actually addressed any of the core issues plaguing this camera? In this video, I dive deep into the new firmware, comparing it directly to the previous version and, crucially, to the DJI Action 4.
I've conducted rigorous testing in the same challenging environment where the Action 4 previously outperformed the 5 Pro. I'm looking for improvements in image quality, dynamic range, and overall performance. Unfortunately, my initial impressions are that V01.03.03.50 is little more than a bug fix for the problematic V01.03.03.30. I'm struggling to see any meaningful changes or improvements to the image.
The fact remains: the older DJI Action 4 continues to deliver a superior image in many situations. This is incredibly frustrating. Why is a previous generation camera outperforming the current flagship model? This isn't just about nitpicking; it's about fundamental image quality.

Improved dynamic range and shadow/highlight balance: The Action 5 Pro's image often struggles with harsh lighting conditions, resulting in blown-out highlights and crushed shadows.
Overall image quality improvements: The Action 4's image simply looks better in many scenarios, and the Action 5 Pro needs to catch up.
I'm not the only one feeling this way. Many users have expressed similar concerns online. This video is a call to action. We need to make our voices heard and demand better from DJI.
