Hey guys! Today I’ll show you how to create a block of knots using DHHKs. This method create a V shape at the bottom. I’ll play around with this method a bit more to see if I can come up with a way to square it off. Before we get started I thought I’d mention that my shop is stocked with new premium cotton string and rope in various colours. Sizes range from 2mm-9mm. Let’s get started.
Set up - Cut 6 pieces of rope, each piece is 10ft long. Fold in half and attach to your dowel using Lark’s Head knots.
Use the 2nd cord from the left as your filler cord and the left most cord as your working cord and tie a DHHK.
Repeat that process with the next two cords on the right. Tie another DHHK using the working cord from the first DHHK. Tie one more DHHK using the left most cord as your working cord.
Continue this pattern all the way across your work.
Once you’ve run out of rope at the top of your work use the right most cord as your filler cord and tie DHHKs all the way along your work. At the end of your row do not tie a DHHK with the filler cord from the previous row.
Tie one more row of knots so that you have 6 cords on one side and 6 cords on the other when you’re finished.
If needed, space out your DHHKs a bit by pushing them down your filler cords to create an even V shape at the bottom.
