Great day for railroading! Hot day in the park but still plenty of fun in the Magic Kingdom and with Walt's trains. The roster today is the same as last week:
Ernest S. Marsh - Holiday 2 Red
C.K. Holliday - Holiday 5 Blue and Lilly Belle
Fred Gurley - Excursion 3
(Ward Kimball - Holiday 4 Green in far left berth).
Was conversing with a lovely engineer aboard Mark Twain today and learned some very interesting and valuable history and information concerning whistles. Over the course of Holliday's life, she has had 4 different tone Lunkenheimer whistles (A, B, C, and D). Right now she is wearing her B whistle which is the ORIGINAL she wore way back in 1955. Found out that Fred's hand-me-down from Ripley completely broke and that's why she is wearing that Crosby chime. Then I was told Ripley's whistle is the only one to remain the same because Ripley is Walt's favorite and must be kept near-original (you heard it here first, just like I had said several times before but now I've got definitive proof hahaha). Lastly, Mark Twain's whistle is not a Lunkenheimer as I previously thought. The engineer could not remember the whistle's manufacturer off the top of his head but he knew it was not Lunkenheimer.
Starting at 0:30 you can hear Ernest just charging the Rivers of America curve and trestle like a pro! Excellent bark to say the least.
