✨ #Tamatoa: the story takes place before Polynesian languages diversified, hence why the video displays 3 languages instead of just one. The 3 dubbings are special dubs made by #Disney specifically for the setting of this movie, and the entirety of Polynesian dubs issued to this day

🌟 #Magnifico: though the story takes place in a markedly Catalan-speaking area of Spain (as it’s said to take place in an Iberian island in the Mediterranean Sea), Magnifíco and Amaya are often heard use Spanish expressions. And since they are said to have fled from elsewhere to Rosas to build their own kingdom, I assume that these elements combined mean they came from a Castilian-speaking part of Spain, making them Spanish natives

🐯 #ShereKhan: even though several languages are spoken in India, I picked the one from which many of the characters’ names come: Hindi. e.g. भालू (“bhālū”) meaning “bear”, शेर (“śer”) meaning “lion”, अकेला (“akelā”) meaning “alone”
💥#Ratcliffe: the historical figure of John Ratcliffe was a British colonist and sea captain born in Lancashire, in northern England, in 1549. He was one of the first governors of the settlement of Jamestown, in Virginia, where he was killed in 1609
