Wooden dhow making is an age-old craft that is still kept alive in Eastern Africa. Faki Silima, Leader of boat making, demonstrates old skills in a boatyard of Bagamoyo, Tanzania. Coconut palm is commonly used for making dhows because of its quality and accessibility. Dhow is originated from Kenya and has the edge on local seafaring for smaller size and greater mobility than modern boats.
