The Prelude of this suite consists of an A–B–A–C form. The Allemande is the only movement in the suites that has an up-beat consisting of three semiquavers instead of just one, which is the standard form. The second Bourrée, though in C minor, has a 2-flat key-signature.
This notation, common in pre-Classical music, is sometimes known as a partial key-signature. The first and second Bourrée of the third suite is sometimes used as solo material for other bass instruments such as the tuba, euphonium, trombone and bassoon.

Frédéric Chopin wrote his Funeral March in C minor in 1827, though the work was published in 1855, six years after his death.
It is usually referred to as Op. posth. 72 no. 2, or by its Brown catalogue number: B. 20. Chopin asked for all his unpublished manuscripts to be burned after his death.
Most of them, however, were edited throughout the years.

Couperin composed a set of concert suites for the court of Louis XIV in 1714-5, now dubbed the Concert Royaux. At that time chamber music was particularly in vogue, and these pieces are not meant for dancing but for careful listening.
They were published seven years later without indication of instrumentation, a feature also found in certain works of Marin Marais and Gaspard Le Roux.

Charpentier composed his grand polyphonic motet Te Deum in D major, H. 146 between 1688 and 1698, during his stay at the Jesuit Church of Saint-Louis in Paris, where he was musical director.
The work is written for the group of soloists, choir, and instrumental accompaniment. Charpentier authored six Te Deum settings, although only four of them have survived.
The instrumental introduction, composed in the form of rondo, precedes the first verset, led by the bass soloist. The choir and other soloists join gradually. Charpentier apparently intended to orchestrate the work according to the traditional exegesis of the Latin text.
The choir thus predominates in the first part (praise of God, heavenly dimension), and individual soloists in the second part (Christological section, secular dimension).
The composition is scored for five soloists (SSATB) and choir (SATB), accompanied with an instrumental ensemble of 2 flutes or recorders, 2 oboes, 2 trumpets, timpani, 2 violins (2 violins for the bass solo Te deum laudamus), 2 violas, and basso continuo.
After the works rediscovery in 1953 by Carl de Nys, the instrumental prelude was chosen as the theme music preceding the broadcasts of the European Broadcasting Union.
After over sixty years of use notably before the Eurovision Song Contest, the prelude, as arranged and directed by Louis Martini and Guy Lambert, has become Charpentiers best-known work.

Borodin wrote this quartet in two years, and published it in 1879 with a dedication to Rimsky Korsakovs wife. Though overshadowed by his more popular second quartet, the musical resources employed by Borodin in its composition were novel in 19th century Russia.
It full title is String Quartet on a Theme of Beethoven, and it employes a variation of a melody from Beethovens Op. 130 quartet. Upon hearing it, a critic stated that Borodin had produced Russias first great piece of chamber music.

Much of Boccherinis chamber music follows models established by Joseph Haydn; however, he is often credited with improving Haydns model of the string quartet by bringing the cello to prominence, whereas Haydn had frequently relegated it to an accompaniment role.
Rather, some sources for Boccherinis style are in the works of a famous Italian cellist, Giovanni Battista Cirri, who was born before Boccherini and before Haydn, and in the Spanish popular music.
This particular quartet was written in 1780, and published with a set originally marked as Op. 33 by Artaria, and later by Pleyel as paret pof Op. 39.

Frédéric Chopin wrote his Two Bourrées in 1846, though they were never published during his lifetime. As they lack an opus number, they are usually referred to by their Brown catalogue numbers, B. 160b1 and B. 160b2.
Like many of his lesser works, they were published posthumously (in 1968), contrary to his wish that all his unpublished manuscripts be burned.

The Mazurka in D, sometimes called Mazurek, is believed to be an early work by Frédéric Chopin. Its composition date is usually set around the year 1820 (when Chopin was 10 years old).
It was first published in 1910. As it doesnt have a proper Opus number, it is usually referred to as B. 4, and KK Anh. Ia/1 according to its entry numbers in the Brown and Kobylanska catalogues respectively. A standard performance lasts around one minute.

It was first published in an unidentified Parisian journal in early 1890, and later included as no. 4 of the posthumous Cinq Morceaux pour Piano, published in Paris by Enoch & Cie. in 1897.
