One of Allen's best amenities is our robust trail system. It currently has over 100 miles and counting pathways through out the city which is about about 0.9 miles of trail per 1,000 residents - the highest per capita ratio in the area. This was by design, too! Citizen input from the city's first comprehensive plan identified the desire to preserve the greenbelts along the local creeks, and the city took action right away creating plans and codes that ensured not only the preservation but also the creation of trails for residents to enjoy.
