Detecting Space-Debris Bullets, by Paul A. Bernhardt – Science for Alaska
Space debris in low Earth orbit threatens the operational safety of satellites and spacecraft. NASA tracks over 27 thousand pieces, yet many are too small to detect – until now. Paul A. Bernardt, research professor at the University of Alaska Fairbanks Geophysical Institute, explains how scientists of University of Alaska and University of Calgary have devised a technique to locate previously undetectable debris.
