UAF Geophysical Institute geophysicists Chris Waigl and Jen Delamere presented the talk, "Firewatch: Fire Landscapes from Air and Space" on March 9, 2021, as part of the Science for Alaska Lecture Series.
Join us for an unparalleled view of Alaska from above and learn how UAF researchers use advanced remote sensing technology to monitor fires and protect communities. Alaska EPSCoR and UAF GINA researchers use remote sensing imagery to measure burnable vegetation, detect and transmit data on active fires to managers on the ground and monitor the landscape after a #wildfire blaze has passed. Ultimately, this data helps fire managers plan for a future in a changing #climate.
