In this final video in the Getting Started with Fusion series, we dive into one of Fusion’s most powerful features: Configurations. Learn how to create configurable designs that allow you to control parameters, features, and appearance themes—all from a single configuration table. This approach eliminates repetitive remodeling and makes generating design variations fast and efficient.
We’ll start by switching from the Manufacturing Workspace to the Design Workspace and editing the Spool design. You’ll see how naming dimensions like OD and ID simplifies configuration management. From there, we’ll explore the Configure Menu, add parameters, and build out a configuration table that includes hole suppression, diameter, and pattern quantity.
Next, we’ll create multiple configurations—such as “Original” and “Lite”—and demonstrate how changes in the table instantly update the 3D model. You’ll also learn how to configure physical materials for appearance and mass properties, enabling quick comparisons like Steel vs. Aluminum.
Finally, we’ll show how configurations integrate seamlessly into assemblies and drawings. Switch between right-handed and left-handed reel setups, update manufacturing toolpaths automatically, and see how drawings adapt to different configurations.
Whether you’re customizing parts, managing design variations, or preparing assemblies for production, configurations give you flexibility and control.
