Demon Chaos is another game that never got a North American release, like Sword of Etheria. It also happens to be published by Konami, just like Etheria.

This will probably hit more close to home on this channel because it's a hack'n'slash set in Sengoku era Japan. We play as Inugami, a servant of the gods sent to quell the chaos by slaying all demons, guided by the shrine maiden Aoi Yasaka. Inugami has no spoken dialogue, only communicating with lion growls/roars and by slaughtering hordes of demons. Despite "inugami" being more associated with dogs, this Inugami is a lion man.

I was interested in this game because of the official summary for it ,where it claims to be able to have 65,000 enemies on screen at one time. I thought there was no way it could pull that off without severe frame drops, but it actually does manage it, although it takes until the end of the game for us to see numbers that ridiculous. It's a lot more tame at the start. However it only manages being able to handle such a large number by having the game look unabashedly terrible. Nothing looks good up close, the maps are very barren, very few enemy types, very simple AI, etc.

The game is overall pretty simplistic. You have a S-string and Triangle attacks similar to Warriors, but the Triangle attacks are pretty much the same. You want to end on a Triangle attack though since it means less recovery frames between combos. You can also press Circle in the midst of an S-string to consume some of your magic to unleash a powerful attack that usually clears the screen. The magic attacks are actually pretty varied, depending on weapon. Some weapons create an explosion, some boomerang your weapon with MASSIVE range, some have you dash forward at high speeds and even shows a "kilometer per hour" number as you do it.

But how you'll attack the most is by building up your magic gauge and then pressing R1 to start a sprint where you run forward and slash left to right with massive range. This will turn you into a powerwasher of destruction as you see the red dots on the map get scrubbed away.

The game is alllll about the power trip and wants you to feel strong at all times, so the enemies really just aren't a threat to you. Story-wise, you don't actually die when you're defeated, your spirit is just bound to the mortal realm through the shrine maiden and taking damage weakens the link. Weak enemies can take down your health if they get enough hits in, but it takes a few to even drain one orb of health. And if it does get low, you can get a health pick up or move over to Aoi and she'll heal you.

Since you aren't really in much danger, the main goal of stages is to keep your human allies alive. You take a lot of sides in the Sengoku era, but you only ever fight demons, so you're always trying to keep humans alive. You can direct them to do stuff like follow or wait but it's very simple. You usually always want them to follow.

There's a bit of an RTS element where you can put down towers to help your human allies by healing them, destroying structures, or attacking enemies, but you can only put down the base of the tower, the humans have to actually build them to make them functioning. But more importantly is that there are these Blood Crystals that Inugami can't destroy because they're made of human blood (Inugami cannot harm humans I think, though this isn't explicitly stated). Your human allies have to be guided to them to destroy them for you or they will keep spawning enemies.

I called Inugami a powerwasher for a reason, there's a certain satisfaction to seeing all the red in a map disappear as you effortlessly slaughter everything in front of you. And it reminds me of something like powerwasher simulator type games. I wouldn't really say it's a GOOD game, but it's a neat little oddity. Probably the coolest part about it is that anime opening.
