Themeparkfanatic | Demon at Six Flags Great America @woodencoasterfan | Uploaded June 2015 | Updated October 2024, 1 week ago.
This coaster was built by Arrow Dynamics and opened on May 29, 1976 when the park was owned my Marriott and called Marriott's Great America. It opened wit only two inversions and was "Turn of the Century" with white tracks and supports and the corkscrews were the only two inversions on the coaster. It wasn't until 1980 that the two hills were removed and replaced by the two loops. The track was renamed "Demon", painted all black, and had the rock work and tunnels added as well.
According to RCDB.com, Demon is 103.7 feet high with a 90 foot drop, 2,130 feet long, has four inversions, a top speed of about 50 mph, and a ride time of about one minute and forty-five seconds
