Texting and driving kills - This is a reminder of why to keep your eyes on the road. I had few seconds to react @ 60-65mph - deer blend in, and they're incredibly unpredictable. Comment how I could have done better, for the next deer I encounter. Current SOP is to check surroundings and immediately stop as fast as I can, regardless of if they're running in front of me or not.
I encountered one in Texas that was just chilling on the roadside, till I got closer, then it bolted in front of my van and bounced off the headlight at 10mph as I ABS-skidded to a stop and it got right back up and ran off without a limp or any blood. That's why I do an immediate FULL ASAP stop, when there aren't drivers behind me.
