I’ve been wanting to harmonise this melody for a wile. This composition is based on a melody that I sung into a voice recorder when I was in an inflatable zorb ball in my living room on the morning of Thursday the 28th of January 2016. I had had a dream that morning and the melody was partly inspired by thought’s that I had after the dream. I did a cover of it in 2021 on another Thursday the 28th of January but it did not have any harmonies.
This piece features it being played twice in a row in the original key then it modulates a forth higher and plays an arrangement of it using different sounds, including some filtered square waves. The piece then ends on a melody that I used to sing a lot at times in the first half of 2016 including when I was at school that I think was kind of derived from 28 January melody, or may have been.
This piece has a lot of memories and associations for me and I’m glad I’ve finally instrumented it after nearly 10 years.
