On Tuesday, I was playing around with and trimming some sounds I recorded this year to use as sample instruments in Reaper. I got a few I liked and since have created these pieces of music.
The sample that plays the main melody in the first piece is a reversed and sped up inflatable ball bursting inside a large pipe I have in my garden. I was doing this for another project, but found that it made quite a good lead melody sound when very fast.
There was a sound that a fire alarm control panel of some kind was making in my halls of residence on the 3rd of March 2026 in between F and E. That was one sound it made anyway and I recorded it. It is used a lot in here and it sounds a bit like an organ with a Lesley speaker. However it isn’t using vibrato or tremolo. It’s fluctuating in another way.
From what I can tell when I slow it down I think it’s something in an overtone of the sound to change the timbre, but I still don’t know the specifics.
Besides these, I have a few different piano samples that I collected and the resonance of a bowl which is only used in the second piece.
The 5th piece is inspired in part by a Ragtime section from my napvisos square wave composition from the 11th of May 2025.
The 7th piece is an arrangement of my composition from the 4th of July 2021 and was partly inspired in a countermelody played by the fire alarm panel sample by a countermelody in an arrangement of this piece by @GDNormalFace002 .
The 8th piece is a slow arrangement of my composition from the 14th of February 2021.
The 11th piece is partly inspired by part of the melody of the piece I made with the Brailler and flan dish samples on the 12th of December 2025.
