Built around a drop D tuning and a kind of classic (dare I say) country rock riff and open airy chord progression this song happened pretty fast. I wanted to write a song called Dead Mouse (more on that later) for a while and this progression and feel seemed to fit that title. I guess the lyrics are tentative as this is a demo and such. I penned the bulk of it after I finished recording the guitar track which was the first track that I recorded and what you see on the video. Then I played the percussion live (more on that later) and listened to the song until the lyrics came to me. I had the "I can't feel.... I can't touch" written down but the words after that came off the cuff. I like having that pressure lyrically. It is like riffing on a lead or something and after all it can always be re-written. This has a decidedly art rock / sci fi tone to me and will fit well with Hatchetbaby and Cigarette. Thanks to Home Depot for the bucket. Hope you enjoy.
