DC Comics is filled with highly skilled, competent, street-level vigilantes and characters with years of training. Batman is highly regarded as a hero due to his status as a Justice League member, which includes the likes of Superman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman, and many others. Batman is recognized as one of the best fighters in DC, but some have been led to believe that he is the best outright—despite there being a select group of characters in current canon who prove otherwise. For starters, he's led an entire Bat-Family that includes a few members who could one day surpass him. Nightwing is Batman's greatest success, given his combat ability and his capability of leading the Teen Titans. Cassandra Cain, as Batgirl, is also a worthy contender, given her backstory and lore. Some adaptations with the batfamily include Batman Arkham and Gotham Knights. James Gunn's DCU plans to introduce the batfamily with some of the characters listed.
