DC gaming has remained one of the most untapped mediums under the DC brand in terms of potential. It has been consistently outshined by Marvel Games, which has delivered recent hits like Marvel Rivals and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, along with a slate of promising titles in development such as Iron Man, Wolverine, and even Captain America and Black Panther in Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra. While WB Games has found past success with the Batman: Arkham series and Injustice, the last major Arkham title, Batman: Arkham Knight, was released a decade ago. Since then, major Justice League characters like Superman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, and Green Lantern have yet to receive their own AAA games. Aside from Gotham Knights and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League—the only non-LEGO, open-world DC games released post-Arkham Knight—there has been a notable lack of high-profile DC titles. However, recent discussions involving James Gunn and the upcoming DCU suggest that the future may promise a focus on DC gaming. Rocksteady is reportedly working on a new single-player Batman game, and NetherRealm Studios is likely developing Injustice 3.
