This video tutorial & GitHub source code template guides you through creating, loading, saving and syncing JSON config between server & client for your DayZ mods.
This is a potential part of a future series of tutorials - if you guys like this sort of thing and want to see a deeper dive into this sort of scripting content then please let me know.
This is a hobby for me, but if I can monetize the channel so I receive some ad revenue instead of YT taking it all, then I may consider pushing forward with a full-length series covering everything I know about DayZ modding such as:
- Basics of tools
- Workbench basic guide
- Visual Studio basic guide
- Stringtable generator guide
- AgentRansack guide
- Mikero Tools guide
- Basics of PBO file structure:
- .cpp structure
- inputs.xml
- stringtable.csv
- imagesets/slot icons/etc
- Basics of overriding vanilla and modded .cpp config
- Basics of scripting structure (3/4/5 game/world/mission scopes)
- Basics of overriding vanilla and modded script functionality
- Basics of sound files and playing audio in-game
- Basics of RPC data between server-client/client-server
- Basics of JSON config loading, saving and syncing
- Basics of .bin file loading and saving
- Basics of Plugins and actively managed script behaviour
- Basics of GUI design - icons, GUI design, scripted interfaces with RPCs
- Basics of 3D models - important LODs, hidden selections, textures and model.cfg
- Basics of debugging: script and crash logs, RPT file etc
- ...and much more complex subjects and/or subjects beyond the scripting stuff such as server XML config guides etc.
The best way to help me get there and let me know if you're interested in more content is to subscribe and smash the... blah blah blah blah see you in Elektro!
