South Padre Island (2012)
Before South Padre Island became one of the most talked about beach towns in Texas, we spent a full day there soaking up every bit of island time we could find. This 2012 episode holds up as one of our favorite trips to the coast.
We started with a hands on sandcastle lesson from a local artist who makes the whole thing look easy, which it is not. From there we headed out for a snorkeling expedition before stopping in to meet the rescued sea turtles cared for at Sea Turtle, Inc., one of the most beloved nonprofits on the island. Of course, no day on South Padre is complete without sampling the food, and we made sure to eat our way through the best of it.
Take a trip back with us to see South Padre Island the way it looked over a decade ago, sand, surf, sea turtles, and all.
