During the day I used the camera's intervalometer to take a shot in automatic mode every 15 seconds for about an hour. The winds were VERY strong and moved the camera's tripod slightly throughout the timelapse.
During the night I set the camera's exposure to 30 seconds, ISO 1600, focused to infinity as best as possible and again used the camera's intervalometer to take continuous shots. The half moon was behind the camera illuminating the valley, and the stars were reasonably acquired in each frame of the timelapse.
