Passé Balance Challenge: Can You Do It With Your Eyes Closed?
Day 4 of my 12 Days of Ballet-Inspired Fitness! Today's challenge tests your proprioception—can you balance WITHOUT using your eyes?
How to do it:
- Rise to passé (foot at knee) 3 times on one leg
- On the 3rd passé, close your eyes and HOLD
- That's 1 set—do at least 4 sets on each side
- Try to hold for 5-10 seconds with eyes closed
Why eyes closed?
When you close your eyes, you eliminate visual input and force your body to rely on proprioception (body awareness) and your vestibular system (inner ear balance). This builds DEEP stability that dancers use on stage.
Key tips:
✓ Find your balance with eyes OPEN first—don't rush to close them
✓ Pull UP out of your standing hip (don't sink!)
✓ Passé foot placement: pointed foot at your standing knee
✓ Standing leg stays fully engaged
✓ If you wobble, open your eyes—no shame! Try again.
✓ Do at least 4 sets on each leg = 8 total balance challenges
This is how dancers train balance for turns and balances on stage. It looks simple, but closing your eyes changes EVERYTHING! 🔥
Can you hold it with your eyes closed? Let me know how many seconds you got!
🩰 Follow for Day 5 tomorrow!
