The first release of the Tricky mod was my favorite of the mods that had come out simply for the amazing second track in it, so I was super excited to play the full four song week when it was released. I was so blown away by this song but for the first time in a while I had NO idea how Id pull it off for a cover. Without any idea in mind I just sat down and took it on and pulled it off as best I can.
This was an incredibly difficult cover to pull off this week. Not just because the song is tough but because we chose this past week to get our first puppy and she has been very needy, but since shes so cute its been pure suffering to be away from her any additional minute than I need to. Filming the video was a struggle because of the time constraint and the memorization needed for this song, so I opted again to film this one myself. Im hoping to make this the normal format for videos since having a warm body and human hands film is tough for every week.
I tried to compensate with some really fun effects in post on this one. There is TONS of audio glitching and video effects on this one which were much easier to sink time into while there was a dog in my lap (periodically sinking teeth into me since shes so puppy). Anyway, enjoy and I promise Marnie the puppy will be in a video very soon!

This was one song while playing that I was really excited to learn how to play. I think its pretty obvious the similarity between this and F-Zero music and I was most looking forward to arranging this because F-Zero music is some of my biggest influence to be a guitarist in general!
The band for my upcoming tour that starts tomorrow is here and weve been practicing hard for it (begins tomorrow in San Diego!). Its been a bit challenging to balance doing weekly covers while preparing for this tour but I hope the quality meets your expectations!

What I wasnt expecting from 2021 was to play a game that so seemingly effortlessly brought me back to the feeling I had when I played Undertale for the first time. In some ways I feel like its unfair for any game to be compared to Undertale, especially one that really sets itself apart in so many ways and does so many unique things. However I really feel like it illustrates just how impactful Omori is as a game that it does get that comparison and still stands on its own. I had the pleasure of playing through it this past week and cant praise or recommend it enough.
For my first cover, I wanted to do the song that stood out to me the most, which in this case was Sweethearts battle theme. When I heard the backing arpeggios, my first thought was that it would be fun to play, but even some of the melody lines in this song are downright sadistic to play. I gave it my all since I really enjoy this theme and hope you guys enjoy how I arranged it for metal! I tried to add in the original elements along side like the harpsichords, 808 kicks, and synths. It was a real challenge to mix it just right, so I hope you like it!

I was one of the many people who played Automata first in the whole series after the game got intense praise, and I was also one of the many people that got completely enamored by the lore and longed to play the first game. I was ecstatic to hear the remake was coming out and have been absolutely loving it since it released a few weeks ago. Once I heared Grandma in the game, I had an instant urge to try and learn the arpeggio on guitar. Much to my dismay, it extended the range of a standard guitar. The way I got around this was to have another track play the lowest held out bass notes and use a really particular pinch harmonic to get the high F out which is typically one semitone above the range of a standard tuned guitar. I LOVE challenges like this so this was really fun to take on!
This cover was originally supposed to be an easier one for me since I have a lot going on in my life right now, yet I was still pretty strapped for time finishing it off. I hope you guys enjoy what I did with this song and are also enjoying Nier Replicant as much as I am! See you next week!
