For the past two summers, Conair Aerial Firefighting of British Columbia has sent their Dash 8-400 Air Tanker to Calgary's Springbank Airport.
Springbank Airport is the main general aviation airport for the Calgary area, and the main runway is 5000 feet long. The Dash 8-400 is both the longest, and the heaviest airplane to fly here on a regular basis, if not ever.
There's been an air tanker base here since 2007, and prior to the Dash 8s, Conair flew their Convair 580s in here until they were retired in 2022.
Although Dash 8s are very common in this part of the world, at a smaller airport where 95% of the traffic is Cessna 172s, the Dash 8-400 is an impressive sight.
With fire season having mostly wrapped up around here, I filmed a couple of the Dash 8-400's visits to Springbank over the last few months and with some great close up views too. Enjoy the video!

![The NEW GULFSTREAM G700! Flight Test Aircraft Landing at Calgary Airport [4K]
Yesterday, this Gulfstream G700 flight test aircraft from Gulfstream Aerospace flew into Calgary.
The G700 is Gulfstreams largest private jet to date, and is a stretched version of the successful G650. The G700 is still awaiting certification, and this particular one was in Iqaluit for some cold weather testing.
Strangely, it left Iqaluit and flew over to Fairbanks, but didnt actually descend, and diverted to Calgary instead.
It ended up staying the night here and then left just before sunrise. No idea why it came to Calgary of all places, but Im very glad to have seen this fantastic looking jet! Enjoy the video!

![Plane Spotting in NORTHERN CANADA! Kuujjuaq Airport, Quebec [4K]
Back in April, @MarkBrandonAviation and I spent a couple nights in Kuujjuaq - the largest town in Quebecs north, a region called Nunavik. This region above the 55th parallel is predominantly Inuit, and is home to 14 communities with no road connections.
Of those towns, Kuujjuaq Airport is the only one with a paved runway, and so its the busiest one in the region by far. Air Inuit serves the local communities with some links to Quebec City and Montreal, and Canadian North also provides direct links to Iqaluit and Montreal.
Theres no shortage of interesting traffic for any aviation enthusiast, so if youd like to see some plane spotting thats off the beaten path a bit, look no further than here!
