Last week, this extremely rare Douglas DC-9 operated by Ameristar flew into Calgary on a special charter of some sort.
This DC-9-15 is now 55 years old, and is actually a former Air Canada one too! It landed and taxied to Apron 6 where they cleared customs, got some fuel, and then started up again to pick up cargo on a different apron.
However, it seemed there was a bit of a miscommunication somewhere, and the plane ended up taxiing around most of the airport before eventually finding its cargo back at Apron 6.
If that wasn’t enough though, they had another 3 hour delay because of ATC issues at their destination of Las Vegas, so they waited as long as they could before the crew seemingly timed out. They stayed overnight and left the next morning for Great Falls instead.
All of this at least led to us getting a few more angles of this iconic classic aircraft, and this was certainly a visit to remember. Enjoy this rare DC-9 in action!

Back in April, @MarkBrandonAviation and I spent a couple nights in Kuujjuaq - the largest town in Quebecs north, a region called Nunavik. This region above the 55th parallel is predominantly Inuit, and is home to 14 communities with no road connections.
Of those towns, Kuujjuaq Airport is the only one with a paved runway, and so its the busiest one in the region by far. Air Inuit serves the local communities with some links to Quebec City and Montreal, and Canadian North also provides direct links to Iqaluit and Montreal.
Theres no shortage of interesting traffic for any aviation enthusiast, so if youd like to see some plane spotting thats off the beaten path a bit, look no further than here!

At the end of August, this Royal New Zealand Air Force 757 paid a brief visit to Calgary, stopping for fuel and crew rest en route from New Zealand to the UK.
According to their social media, it was apparently flying to the UK with New Zealand Army personnel to train members of the Ukrainian infantry.
As youd expect, that’s quite the long journey, and the plane stopped in Apia (the capital of Samoa), then in Honolulu, Calgary, and Halifax before making it to RAF Brize Norton.
It’s not every day we see a visitor from the South Pacific, let alone a military 757 in general, so please enjoy!
