Showcase one of teams named by Red Hook. This video shows 5 win matches in a row.
The Oddballs is a ,,damage-stress" team, here are roles of characters:
1st: Hellion (accuracy trinket + damage trinket) - deathblow dealer
2nd: Highwayman (damage trinkets) - damage dealer
3rd: Jester (damage trinket + dodge trinket) - deathblow dealer
4th: Occultist (stress trinket + dodge trinket) - stress dealer
PROS:
1) Mark synergy (Occultist + Highwayman)
2) Great damage output
3) Great stress output
4) Great DoT output
5) 2 disruptors
6) 4 deathblowers
CONS:
1) Marks are a menace
2) Stuns are a menace
3) Stress is a menace
4) Low healing potential
The Oddballs is an odd damage team with great strength of stress and DoT. All characters are deathblowers (if we count Occultist’s „Sacrificial stab“ on afflicted character), next you have a mark synergy, 2 disruptors and 2 (self)healers. Sadly this team is vulnerable against mark and stress teams.
I tried to play a few strategies, like „mark team“, „mix damage + DoT“, „double finisher“ and „mix damage + stress“. I tried both variantions of Hellion (damager / stresser), both variantions are actually good. And Highwayman (bandit / gunslinger), the bandit is much better choice.
My advice: Start with Highwayman for opening the riposte, next use Hellion for debuffing the frontline / dealing damage, then Jester for buffing the team and lastly Occultist for applying some stress.
What a ride… Firstly I didn’t expect these results, because the team is… really odd. All deathblowers, only not great (self)healers and most importantly, without buffs you will miss every single target. The team’s downside is in (stress)healing potential, you don’t have much options as a cure.
I’m not sure, why the opponent in 3rd match left the game, he was on winning side. Even with perfect score, I cannot give them the highest rating, because of players, abbilities and most importantly versability. If I faced at least one harder opponent with decent team (mark / based team), the score would be way more different. This time I was just lucky. So… this was kinda mid.

Showcase one of teams named by Red Hook. This video shows 5 win matches.
Red Hook is a ,,damage-stress team, here are roles of characters:
1st: Crusader (damage trinkets) - damage dealer
2nd: Highwayman (damage trinkets) - damage dealer
3rd: Vestal (accuracy trinket + stun trinket) - healer
4th: Plague doctor (accuracy trinket + stress trinket) - stress dealer
PROS:
1) Great damage output
2) Great stress output
3) Great healing potential
4) 2 stunners
5) 2 disruptors
CONS:
1) Marks are a menace
2) Stuns are a menace
3) Stress is a menace
Red Hook is a damage team, that combines also stress and little bit of DoT. You have 3 healers, 2 stunners and 2 disruptors. Sadly this team is vulnerable against mark and stress teams.
I tried to play a few strategies, like „the finishers“, „full stress“, „support Crusader“ and „mix damage + stress“. I tried both variantions of Highwayman (bandit / gunslinger), the bandit version better choice. And Plague doctor (stress / DoT), the DoT variantion is optimal for playing.
My advice: Start with Highwayman for opening the riposte. Next use one of your stunners (Crusader / Vestal), lastly Plague doctor for applying DoT / stress.
When you start the Darkest Dungeon campaign (after the „Old road“ section with Reynauld and Dismas), you will recieve 2 other characters - Plague doctor and Vestal. Before proceeding to the 1st Ruin dungeon, you can only create a team with Crusader, Highwayman, Plague doctor and Vestal, and most players take only 2 legendary variantions = „The Usual Suspects“ [VES-PD-HIGH-CRS] or „Red Hook” [PD-VES-HIGH-CRS]. Both are the great starting teams, that you can create. But how these two can stand in Butcher’s Circus?
If you understand these characters and give them good setup (trinkets + skills), you can beat even harder opponents. It’s not an easy task to survive with all characters, but it’s possible. Mark teams are a big menace, nice that you have 3 healers, but nobody can clear marks or stuns. The team’s great advantage is in stunners and Highwayman - thanks to his riposting the opponent will have trouble to attack you directly, while you can make disruption on his side. I hope to faced at least 1 darkest player, sadly I got only these players, and I lost only once against veteran player with stress team.
My conclusion - if you make a good setup and play the obvious strategies (mix damage + stress/DoT), you have great chance to win the match. Because of these players and less advantages as usual, I can give them a solid mid rate. Not a bad team!

Showcase one of teams named by Red Hook. This video shows 5 win matches in a row.
Motley Crew is a ,,damage-stress team, here are roles of characters:
1st: Abomination (damage trinkets) - damage dealer
2nd: Man at arms (Spiked shield + accuracy trinket) - supporteer
3rd: Antiquarian (Tears of the Lost + dodge trinket) - stress dealer
4th: Arbalest (healing trinket + damage trinket) - damage dealer
PROS:
1) Porcupine
2) Great damage output
3) Great stress output
4) Great DoT output
5) Great healing potential
6) 2 guardians
CONS:
1) Stress is a menace
2) Disruption is a menace
Motley Crew is an odd damage team, that combines stress and DoT. You have 3 (self)healers, 2 riposters and 2 guardians. Sadly this team is vulnerable against stress teams.
I tried to play a few strategies, such as „full stress“, „the finishers“, „virtue team“ and „porcupine“. I tried both variantions of Abomination (melee beast / DoT puker), both variantions are good.
My advice: Start with Man at arms for opening the riposte OR buffing the team, next use Abomination for stunning someone, then Antiquarian for regeneration spam and lastly Arbalest for dealing damage.
Long time ago I played very similiar team to this [The A Team] and it was absolute banger. Now I got a chance to play this team. Its a little bit different, Abomination in 1st position, that means no full porcupine. Since you cannot make a good porcupine, you can always transform Abomination to beast version and make great damage and disruption. And I can confirm, after this set of matches, both teams are great even with differences. Its a same ol situation. 0 loses, harder opponents are not a problem and great pressure. Youve should try them too!
