In the summer of 2019, a fleet of seven U.S. Navy ships stationed off the coast of California experienced a series of mysterious and intrusive visits that raised severe security concerns. Described as being "swarmed," these ships, including the USS Paul Hamilton and the USS Bunker Hill, reported being followed by unidentified flying objects.
The Pentagon released photographs showing a number of small, unidentifiable flying objects hovering in the skies above the fleet.

In May 2022, a Congressional hearing regarding Unidentified Aerial Phenomena and UFO sightings revealed the identity of the swarm. The drones had been launched from the MV Bass Strait, a suspected spy ship posing as a bulk carrier and registered in Hong Kong.
It also emerged that the MV Bass Strait had been under suspicion at the time and photographed by the crew of the USS Paul Hamilton, who noted in their log, "MV Bass Strait likely using unidentified aerial vehicles to conduct surveillance on U.S. Naval Forces." A personnel member on the scene described the encounter as "otherworldly."
Efforts to contact the Chinese vessel to clarify its actions received no response. Hong Kong officials and Pacific Basin, the company owning the ship, have made no comments.
However, the revelation about the Hong Kong drones explains only part of the mystery. This encounter was one of ten similar incidents involving ships off the southern coast of California experiencing suspicious drone activity. Only some of these incidents can be linked to the presence of the MV Bass Strait.
There are also discrepancies between eyewitness reports and official documents related to these incidents. The motive behind the drone swarm and the identities of those responsible remain unknown, leaving the full scope of the mystery unsolved...
