After failing to deliver a new SMBX Episode, I had to do something else in its place, so I chose to give World R a shot, after it's been requested quite a while ago. It's a fire and hell themed level, meaning lava, fireballs, volcanoes and flamethrowers up the ass. To be fair.....it's not bad ! I mean, yes, the difficulty is pretty insane and there are some annoying parts, but at the same time it's also very fair when it comes to powerups and coins, so you don't actually feel at a complete disadvantage. One thing I don't like is the parts where you pretty much have to take a hit to pass through, like in level 1 where there's a cluster of 4 volcanoes erupting at once and you have no way of dodging all those fireballs, or in level 3 where there's a narrow corridor with spikes at the bottom that you can't jump over due to the "sticky-ceiling" bug that's going on with most fan games. I can let those slide, thanks to the powerups they give you before and after these parts to compensate a bit. The only major issue is that the game gets stuck on the map screen after level 3, and for that reason I couldn't complete it ! Either the castle's not programmed yet, or there's indeed a bug going on. Either way, there was nothing I could do about it, so this walkthrough is only up to level 3. The game's still beta so I won't criticize it too much, but you should definitely fix the map bug and also maybe add some 1-UPs in the later levels, since they're quite difficult and having to go back to level 1 every time you run out of lives, ruins the mood. Overall, not bad - hard as ballz, but playable. Danny out.

Heres another Mario Forever game which someone requested: Project ♪, though I like to refer to it as Musical World or Project Melody, though the latter is already taken by a virtual anime Youtube persona, so I guess thats why they couldnt name it that :)) Anyway.....what can I say ? I was surprised: this game is actually REALLY hard ! Its one of the hardest Mario Forever fan games Ive played in a while ! Judging by the title, I was expecting this to be a laid-back game where the focus would be on the soundtracks and not so much on the difficulty and challenge, but no, its actually the other way around ! Not too many memorable soundtracks in this game (at least to me)... the difficulty on the other hand is WAY up there ! I wasnt able to complete it even after multiple tries: after eventually making it to Bowser (actually Jowser in this case), I got killed almost immediately and couldnt get to him a second time. On top of that, I also had to deal with the regular levels which I had to go through several times before even getting a chance to battle Jowser again, so eventually I had to admit defeat and admit the game is just too hard for me to handle, so what you get is a fail video of sorts.....
I sure hope there arent other worlds after the first one, because I may be missing out on some awesome stuff later on that I couldnt get to, but for now, thats all I can take...Danny Rulez ! Heres World Zero thats bundled with The Minus Worlds by Crist1919. It was still being worked on the first time playing it (link above), so level 2 was missing. Now its been added, so this world is officially complete. Theres really not much to say : its just a standard fan world - its playable, but not special, mainly because it uses standard themes and songs, so it just feels like something youve already played. Thats not to say its bad, its just...standard. Anyway, if u wanna check out The Minus Worlds and World Zero for youself, the link is above. Danny out. A while back, I played two of the letter worlds by Mariovariable, World L and World K, which were part of Mario Forever Remake. Recently Ive been told that version 1.5 was released, which includes 2 more letter worlds : M and N, so of course I had to try them out. I wanted to do this alphabetically, so I checked out World M first. At first, its a pretty tough world, but at least the difficulty is not cheap, meaning that with practice youll be able to make it one step further every time and eventually see the end, which brings a great feel of accomplishment. Nothing too special about this world. It doesnt have as many rings as the last one, so staying in Super Sonic form is a bit of a challenge. Try to keep moving right to get to the end as quickly as possible while you still have some rings left, thats my only advice. My original walkthrough of SMB X-Over got removed due to copyright issues (or so I THINK, since even to this day Im still not entirely sure what the original reason for the flagging was), so I had to make a new video to replace it. Even after so many years, it didnt get old and I really enjoyed playing it again : the concept is original and the game itself is well executed, perfectly emulating the 5 games featured here. The only complaint I have is that the controls can be a bit stiff at times, particularly when you need to jump in rapid succession, as the game doesnt always respond - you sometimes tap the jump key and nothing happens, which may lead to a death when you have to get out of the way fast. This seems to be more prominent when playing as Mario, as the other non-title characters handle really well, or at least as good as they did in their original games, since I havent played Castlevania or Legend of Zelda for instance (yeah, I said it....sue me ! :)) ). Bottom line : this is an awesome game to try, especially if youre a fan of the golden age of the NES, when all these big games came out. Even if youre just a casual player, or youve never heard of some of these games before (just sayin), youll still enjoy this title and thats actually the whole beauty of it : that anybody can pick up and play it, even if you dont have previous experience in the featured games (or even in SMB for that matter) - the game is so intuitive and addicting that you should have no problem with it. Heres another game in the Softendo family: New Super Mario Forever. As you may have guessed from the title, its similar to New Super Mario Bros on the Wii, though I wouldnt call it a rip-off since it doesnt actually copy anything directly from the Wii game - it borrows the concept, enemies and powerups and reuses them in its own way to create something new. The overall concept is the same as Super Mario Bros 3 on the NES: same map format with 8 different worlds and 7 sons of Bowser you have to defeat, same enemies and even some levels look the same, so youll feel at home with this one. Graphically speaking, the game is decent, considering what it is, though the animations of Mario walking and jumping look a bit off and I noticed a lot of people making fun of this in the comments. Gameplay-wise, one thing I can say I dont like is how the screen takes too long to pan when you jump to the top - it freezes for about 1 second before it finally reorients. This could cost you a hit if you jump right into an enemy that you cant see - it should adjust instantly to keep Mario in the middle of the screen at all time. The music and sounds are very good as well: you get musical variety and the quality of the soundtracks is awesome. One thing they decided to change and I dont really appreciate is the sounds Mario makes when jumping (stuff like Ah ! Yeah ! HoUh !). Since its a platform game where you jump a lot, they tend to get irritating after a while and you cant turn them off - you have to turn off all other sound effects too. I would have much preferred the traditional jump sound effects of all the other games, or at least have an option to toggle the voice on and off, independent of the sound effects. Another thing that ruins what would otherwise be a great Mario fan game is the overwhelming amount of spelling and grammar errors - thought NES games were bad at this when they got ported from their japanese versions ? Well, look again: the word order is incorrect and many words are misspelled, making the messages incoherent and even confusing to read, especially in the early levels where youre given instructions on how to perform certain moves - I actually had to read a message twice before figuring out how to do the wall jump. Im aware the maker of the game is not a native English speaker, but couldnt he at least get someone to proof-read the game before releasing it to the public ? I kinda smell Google Translate here ! To be perfectly fair its not too much of a problem as far as playability is concerned, because its the gameplay that counts in Mario games and not so much the dialogues. If it were an RPG like Castlevania where you had to rely on clues and dialogues to progress, then yes, it would be a big issue indeed, but in an action-oriented game like this, we can let it slide. Other than that, theres no need to go into great detail about the game since its self explanatory - if you dont know how to play a Mario game then you shouldnt call yourself a gamer ! Aside from the F it gets in grammar, the game gets an overall A from Daniels Game Vault. Softendo pretty much did everything they could to recreate a Wii game on the PC, which is no easy task considering how complex it is, so for that I can only applaud them ! Well done !
