The only thing a Texas college football fan dislikes more than an in-state rival is an out-of-state one. First played in 1900, the Red River Rivalry between the Texas Longhorns and the Oklahoma Sooners has been an annual tradition since 1929. Held at the Cotton Bowl since 1932, and on the second Saturday of October since 1934, it is also a major attraction of the concurrent State Fair of Texas.
