MECHANICAL NOTES
The Bic Fork spring is a touch STIFFER then the OEM tension. Push hard and make sure the lock face is clear of exit hole on opposite side. It doesn't cause any problems. Spring always UP when you remove the toggle from mainframe. Always UP when you reinsert it. If the spring comes off inside gun, because you drop it in there, taking off slide to get it normally mangles the spring.
The flint spring is SOFTER than the OEM for the mag release.
▶️ Don't cut it shorter than 5/16. It will be too soft to the touch. The mag could drop free. Cut a new one if you mess up.
▶️ Error on the side of cutting flint spring 3/8 or a touch longer. A little more push is good here.
▶️ Use decent full-size cutters. Full-size, 6-7 inches, will not fail nor suffer divets. Don't try scissors or knife. Avoid micro cutters - they are for tiny electrician work and get killed on steel wire or these small springs.

Long-nose pliers also excellent here since certain types come with cutter in back. I can vouch that not all these pliers are equal. They NEED HEAT TREATMENT to tackle steel wire.
A basic test is #1 paper clips that are steel. A full size cutter or long nose (w cutter) can chop up straightened paper clip without damage to the blades. I used magnification to vertify. Small springs like pen springs and Bic springs no problem.
Harder metal like handles on binder clips, can divet the blades. Stay clear of going after hard metal with these plier cutters.
