Today I’m practicing one of the most important skills in children’s book illustration: creating expressive characters.

Using photo references, I’m sketching stylized facial expressions and translating real emotions into simple, appealing picture book characters in Procreate.

This isn’t a tutorial or a finished illustration. It’s a real drawing session where you can watch my thought process, mistakes, and progress as I work toward becoming a professional children’s book illustrator.
