On the fourth episode of 'Cyberpunk 2077 Night City Districts EXPLAINED (under 3 minutes)'. I will explain the lore behind the City Center. This place looks like it will be for late game content, as it is heavily guarded by NCPD and corporate security.

Night City center is covered by megabuildings which in turn are covered by ads. It is so crowded and ‘alive’ that it is hard to believe that about fifty years ago this place was a giant crater caused by the explosion of a tactical nuke. After decades of rebuilding, the city center is once again the heart of Night City financial and economic power.

Rebuilt after the war, Corpo Plaza is now one of the most recognizable fixtures of Night City landscape. You can literally see the sky-stretching luminous billboards from dozens of miles away. The corpo plaza is a sign of the corporations return to true power after long years of humiliation and disgrace. The giant skyscrapers are once again the house of the office complexes of Arasaka and Militech, the very corps who destroyed the city half a century ago. It is quite ironic if you ask me.

The plazas main feature is the memorial park, a huge roundabout between the corporation's headquarters that commemorates the victims of the fourth corporate war.
Armored AVs fly around constantly carrying high-ranking executives to an extent that the place almost looks like a beehive.
The place seems peaceful, but NCPD and armored corporate security are on constant patrol, reminding everyone who’s really in charge here. I assume this location will be very hard to mess around and would probably be related with late-game content. Everyone has to pass through multiple security checkpoints to enter any plaza building.

To the west of the plaza we have the downtown. A coastal center that got rebuilt from scratch after the nuke incident. Full with office spaces and apartment buildings, and fancy restaurants, this place emanates an unique vibe. Neon signs everywhere, advertising all kinds of pubs, bars, strip clubs, fast food joints, and more. Like the rest of Night City, Downtown has a second face that you can only see after sunset. It has dark alleys shadowy spots and sleazy hotels where drug deals go down and black braindance is produced. Here, gangsters from other districts come to have their own kind of fun, and some of them even work as bouncers and bodyguards.
