Crossrail is now focused on the complex task of fitting out the new tunnels and stations with the necessary infrastructure and railway systems to enable TfL-run services to commence through central London and Docklands in December 2018.

This includes the installation of track, tunnel ventilation, high voltage power, traction power, signalling, communications and overhead line equipment.

Permanent track is currently being installed for the new railway, which will be known as the Elizabeth line when Transport for London run services through central London commences in December 2018.
